King Alfred’s Sixth Formers Ed Record, Jack Buckley, Lucy Evans, Benedict Hutchinson and Katie McDonagh worked incredibly hard to produce content for their takeover of 3 different Twitter accounts on 3rd August: MP Ed Vaizey’s (38.5 thousand followers), Kids in Museums (32 thousand followers) and our own twitter account at the museum.
They were in the museum and around Wantage all week collecting images and conducting interviews.
Mel Rowntree, the Museum’s Learning Access Officer, commented: “I am so proud of all their hard work and the great content they produced. All the photos and video were taken by the students (except one, which is of them!). They were so mature and professional in their approach to writing press copy”.
A special thank you to Lucy Evans (Y12) who came out on Thursday night to report on the sleepover for incoming Year 7 Pupil Premium students in the museum with Steven Hampshire (KA’s Pupil Premium Manager) and his team, including staff members Lianne Avis and Tilly Shale. All had a great time sleeping over!
You do not have to have a Twitter account to access the content produced by the Sixth Formers. To see what they have been up to, you can just google ‘Vale and Downland Twitter’ or ‘Kids in Museums Twitter’.
A vote of thanks, too, to Pam Stokell, King Alfred’s Academic Enrichment Programme Manager, for help in the organisation of this initiative and leading a session during Thursday’s sleepover at the museum.
