OFSTED Inspection Report

OFSTED Inspection Report - 21st April 2026

King Alfred's Academy welcomes the publication of its recent Ofsted inspection report, carried out under the new Ofsted framework.

We were pleased that the work we have undertaken to ensure we are an inclusive school has been recognised in the report. Equally, it was encouraging to see the strength of our Sixth Form provision acknowledged in terms of student experience, curriculum, teaching and outcomes. Both areas achieved the Expected Standard, which represents a high bar within the new framework.

The report also recognises a number of strengths across the school, including improvements to behaviour and culture for learning, strong curriculum provision in subjects such as mathematics, effective pastoral support, high-quality careers guidance and the wide range of enrichment opportunities available to our students.

As with many schools operating under the new framework, the report identifies areas where further improvement is needed. These include refining aspects of the curriculum in a small number of subjects, strengthening assessment practices, improving attendance, particularly among vulnerable learners and ensuring that all students are confident in their understanding of fundamental British values and healthy relationships.

We welcome this feedback and believe the inspection has identified the right priorities for our continued development. Importantly, many of these areas were already identified within our school improvement plans, and significant work has been underway since Autumn 2025 to address them.

The Leadership Team, Governors and staff of King Alfred's Academy remain fully committed to delivering these improvements in an effective and timely way, ensuring that every student receives the best possible educational experience and achieves their full potential.

We would like to thank our students, staff, parents and carers for their continued support. We look forward to sharing our progress in the months ahead as we continue to build on our strengths and deliver further improvements for our whole school community.
