Free "Clinical Skills Workshop" - John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford (Sat November 28, 2026 - 10:00-13:00 or 14:00-17:00) 

  • For current Year 12 students 
  • Location: Academic Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headley Way, Headington, Oxford 
  • STEP inTO OxMed, is a student-led organisation at the University of Oxford which aims to provide free outreach opportunities to sixth-form students looking to make a competitive application to Oxford and/or other medical schools. 
  • 2 sessions are available but sign up soon as the spaces are limited: (either 10:00am-13:00pm or 14:00pm-17:00pm).
  • The aim of this workshop is to introduce you to various practical skills, to boost your confidence, and give you an experience that you can put towards a medical school application. The skills covered at the event are as follows: History taking, observations, CPR on dummies, suturing on fake pads, phlebotomy (taking blood from a vein in a fake arm), practicing simulated clinical scenarios.

Free - DofE Volunteer Opportunity - The Letcombe Brook Project - (Starting November 5, 2026 - after-school)

  • For students in Year 9 to Year 13.
  • The Letcombe Brook Project (who were at our KAs Careers Fair) have offered volunteer opportunities that also offer you the opportunity to develop conservation skills to add to your future CVs or applications. 
  • Every month, they will meet to do some training around conservation of the brook (at the Wantage Museum after school).  Then for the intervening weeks, students monitor a stretch of the brook looking for signs on pollution, litter and noting wildlife they saw. 
  • There are 3 starting dates through the year, with the first one being on Thursday 5th November.

Free "Oxford Maths Admissions Test Livestream" - Virtual Event (Now until November 26, 2026 - 17:00-19:00)

  • Are you thinking of applying to study Mathematics at university?
  • In 2026 we're running a weekly livestream with maths problems and problem-solving strategies, with a focus on the Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA) and mathematics interviews.

Free "Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs)" – Virtual Webinar (Thurs October 8, 2026​​​–16:00-17:00)

  • Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) are Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications in England that are designed to give people the technical skills employers need for higher skilled jobs. They are part of higher education (alongside degrees at level 6) and can be found in universities, Further Education colleges and other training providers.
  • HTQs can be a great idea for young people who want to carry on learning and gaining new skills, without committing to a full bachelor's degree. They could be considered by those who are seeking a higher or degree apprenticeship and can be a great way to also support individuals who are in employment, but not undertaking an apprenticeship.

Free "British Army Insights: Parent Voices" - Virtual Webinar (Thurs October 1, 2026 - 17:30 - 18:15)

Free "Inside Mishcon de Reya — a free law insight evening " – Virtual Webinar (Tuesday September 29, 2026​​​–17:00 to 18:30)

  • Mischon de Reya are really pleased to share a free insight evening for students in Years 12 and 13 who are considering a career in law. Students will hear directly from the firm about the work they do, the routes into the profession, and what the application and assessment process really involves.

Happening Now – Youth Volunteering Panel Members being selected for Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust 

  • Are you aged 16-21 and looking to get involved in the conservation sector?
  • We have an exciting opportunity to join our new Youth Volunteering Panel. 
  • 10 Students will be chosen to use their voice and help us shape the future of volunteering for youth.
  • Please note that there is no set location for meetings, as the panel will meet at various locations across Berks, Bucks, and Oxon. There will be at least one meeting every 3 months which may fall on any given day as decided by the panel members.

Free University of Gloucester Higher Education Preparation Days - In-person (2nd-18th September 2026, 10:00 to 14:00)

Free Magdalen College, Oxford University Residential for Year 12s - In-person (18-20th August 2026) 

  • Applications now open for the The Physics & Engineering Programme!

Free Explore Racing Days at Newmarket - In-person (21st August 2026)

  • Careers in Racing's free-to-attend Explore Racing Days are a great way to find out more about the industry, the opportunities available and career paths.
  • Students can ask all the questions they might have, such as: Where can I train? Do I have to ride? What non-riding jobs could I do? Can I get work experience? What are the horses like? When can I start? There are two days taking place this summer.

Free STEM Insight Days - In-person (11-12th August 2026) 

  • Curious about a career in STEM? Upcoming Year 10 and 11's are invited to join Science Oxford for hands-on workshops and real-world insight into leading STEM companies. 
  • Launching over 2025/2026, our new programme will expose students to careers centred around our four themes: Climate, Digital, Engineering and Global Health.

  • Applications now open! The English & Classics Residential is being piloted by Magdalen in 2026 for Year 12 (or equivalent) students at UK state schools who are interested in applying to one or both of English, Classics or a related subject at university.

  • Imperial College in London is offering 2 Summer Courses to current Year 12s. This project is an opportunity for pupils who are now in Year 12 and interested in studying Biological Sciences and Biochemistry, or Chemistry at Imperial College, London.

Fully Funded University of Reading 4 Day Property Course for Year 12s - In-person Event (14-17th July, 2026)

  • The Henley Business School runs a residential study programme for Year 12 students.
  • All travel, accommodation and food will be paid for. 
  • Students will continue to be supported after their attendance.

  • Students who attend will be invited to carry out a work experience placement in October and participate in an e-mentoring programme.
  • This opportunity is ideal for students who have an interest in the property sector and who would like to learn more about the industry. Over the course of four days, your students will: Sit in on taster lectures; Visit a large development site and learn how they operate; Get involved in group projects and debates; Develop key skills such as networking and presentation skills; Attend a mini careers fair with leading names from the industry; Hear from industry professionals about the incredible career opportunities available via degrees and apprenticeships; Stay in our university halls, gaining a first-hand experience of university life.
  • The University of Reading will continue to support participating students through their Propel alumni programme sending them relevant information. If they choose to undertake a property industry focused degree or qualification, they will be eligible to apply for up to £30,000 in bursary funding and if they study Real Estate at Reading University they will receive a guaranteed conditional contextual offer plus a welcome bursary.

£10 "NHS Allied Healthcare Work Experience session" – Virtual Event (Sunday May 3, 2026 – All day)

  • Students will explore the crucial elements of Road Traffic Collisions (RTC) whilst being guided through various allied health careers by exploring the journeys of two patients from initial presentation to full recovery. Students will gain invaluable perspectives on patient care dynamics and the collaborative efforts within the NHS, including exploring careers within: Nursing; Midwifery; Paramedicine; Physiotherapy; Occupational Therapy; Dietetics; Radiography; Prosthetics and Orthotics; Speech and Language Therapy; and Pharmacy.
  • Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals throughout each day. This will empower students to make informed career decisions and demonstrate their commitment to healthcare in their UCAS applications. 
  • Once they’ve registered, students will be emailed links to their virtual work experience portals.
  • Students are awarded a Work Experience Certificate for every session they complete. Those who complete the full 6-month programme (6 sessions from May to October) will be awarded a Highly Commended Reference from the Presidents of Allied Healthcare Mentor. These are fantastic additions to their CVs!

  • Open to all parents and students.
  • This talk is presented by Caroline Burgess and Michelle Whitcomb and will go over the opportunities for students to apply for a role in Health care during a gap year after Year 13. 
  • Newbury Street Practice at the Wantage Health Centre on Mably Way, is looking for a young person interested in a one-year placement, predominantly working with the administration of the practice. Regardless of whether they are interested in working within the Health Sector, this is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a team and find out more about the running of a nationwide organisation such as the NHS. If your child is interested in this, please have them come along to this talk. 
  • Even if you are not in Year 13 currently, this is an established gap year scheme that runs each year so you may see if it is an option for you in the future. 
  • The event does not require a booking and will take place in the Sixth Form Auditorium.
